Kev had, like so many others Cancer. It is a terrible disease, but Kev didn't let it bother him and just got on with things. He never took time off work unless it was to get infusions of Chemo. He was diagnosed just after his 50th Birthday, we took him to Dublin to celebrate and boy did we celebrate!! We were told that he had secondaries in his liver in August 2007 and that it was inoperable. He started his Avastin and Chemo and although it is a harsh treatment he seemed to get through it very well. Kev was a cheeky chappy!! and always made people laugh with his carcasim and quick wit. He loved music and once played in a band in 70's called Black Dog and played all over the North East of Scotland. He always headed out with his MP3 player or listened to the radio at work or his cds in his car. He was a keen gardener and loved the banter with the neighbours over the garden walls. He also loved photography and just 4 months before he died he bought himself a slr camera and took some wonderful photos. He also loved his Sci Fi and always hogged the tv buttons so that the rest of us had to watch it too. He has been described as a Gentleman by his collegues and he was, Always made me walk on the inside and opened doors to let me through first. He had great manners too and was very professional in his work life. I miss him so much, it hurts, but I take comfort that he went before the cancer took him and that he did not have to suffer that. He died of an infection and passed away peacefully with me, his daughter, and his son holding him.
